The highly anticipated Inspiration Academy UTR tournament this past weekend was nothing but successful and did not disappoint. The weekend brought 96 great players from all around the state and outside the state to the Inspiration Academy Tennis courts to compete for the grand prize in both the men’s and the women’s divisions. Over the four days of competition there were many competitive and intriguing matches.

The men’s division was won by Andres Andrade who was the number one seed in the tournament. He had a very routine walk into the final where he played defending Inspiration Academy $1000 tournament winner and number 2 seed, Matthew Segura. Both players reached the final without dropping more than four games in one set. In the final, Segura came out the blocks very confidently and took the first set 7-5 in a tight, entertaining set. Andres came storming back in the second and took it in convincing fashion 6-2. In the deciding tie-breaker, Segura went up 7-3 very quickly but the experience of Andres Andrade showed in the end with an impressive comeback to win 10-8 in the breaker and be crowned the champion for the weekend.

The women’s division lived up to all expectations as well. The inclusion of number one seed and top 50 WTA professional Marie Bouzkova brought a buzz to the Inspiration tennis courts. As expected, Marie came out as victress of the women’s draw. Marie walked through her opening two rounds very convincingly without dropping a game. In the semifinal match she came up against Inspiration’s young, talented 14 year old, Brooklyn Olson. Brooklyn Olson who is the Florida U16 #1 and USA U14 #3 put up a tremendous fight in the first set of the match and was up a break serving at 2-1. Bouzkova showed her experience in the latter stages of the set and went onto win the set and the match 6-4 6-1. In the final, Marie came up against another Inspiration Academy player, Sofia Rojas. Sofia who is ranked #97 in the world in juniors, came in as the number two seed behind Marie. Young Rojas started well but yet again Marie Bouzkova showed her class and was a run away winner in the end by a score of 6-2 6-0.

Director of Tennis at Inspiration Academy, Ashley Hobson said “It was a fantastic tournament. This weekend was an amazing opportunity for players to play against a player ranked #47 WTA. Many tennis players do not get an opportunity like this in their lifetime. Thank you to everyone who participated.”
