These are some of the phases that helped the JV boys get through their grueling off-season training program at Inspiration Academy. The hard work has paid off however, and now the fun begins.
“Having coach Brian in the weight room pushing us beyond our limits has been something that will benefit us during the season. There’s no question we’re prepared,” said sophomore Michael Oplinger.
With leadership from Oplinger, veteran Jake Platko and Chase Chadwick, the team has experience that will prove to be a separator as the boys battle through their challenging schedule which includes IMG Academy, Out-of-Door Academy among others.
Young up-and-coming pitching will be the difference maker for the Lions as talented freshmen Caden Brown, Ryan Combs, Alek Trompke and Ryan Gargett according to baseball director Mario Jimenez. “These young kids coming up from the middle school program that dominated last year are going to have to take a big step forward this year. I believe they are up for the challenge.”
JV head coach Wade Satzinger, who is in his first year at Inspiration Academy after coaching at NCAA D1 program North Dakota State will also look to young players like Judson Hildreth, Ryan Rushing, Jose Ayala, Jack Mackinnon and Jacob Barton to make contributions to this year’s roster. “It’s been exciting for me to come down to IA and see just how much talent we have. I’m excited to see how these kids respond in-game. They’re prepared.”
Inspiration Academy begins its season Friday, February 15th at IMG Academy.
