Florida Gulf Coast League to launch college summer baseball league in 2019

Bradenton, Florida. The Florida Gulf Coast League (FCGL), a college baseball summer league based on Florida’s southwest coast, will begin its inaugural season in June 2019 the league announced today.
The league’s first slate will feature 6 competitive teams that will be located throughout Manatee and Sarasota counties and include highly reputable baseball brands such as Five-Star National, Inspiration Academy, Florida International Baseball Academy and an area scout from the Seattle Mariners among others.
During its first season, the FGCL will have a 30-game schedule that will take place from June 1, 2019 through July 15, 2019 and include an All-Star game, home run derby and playoff bracket.
The FGCL board of directors believes this league has an opportunity to thrive in the Tampa Bay region. “The vision is to create a premier league where players from across the country can come to Florida, play outstanding competition and enjoy all that our beautiful region has to offer.”
The board is also confident in the leadership group coming together to form this endeavor. “The organizations that are involved in the inaugural FGCL can have been tremendously successful growing the game in our area and helping develop college/pro prospects in a league is a huge deal for the gulf coast.”
