Lake City, FL – The Inspiration Academy varsity team completed its record-breaking season with a state championship in the Florida Independent Christian Athletic Association defeating First Christian Academy 9-0 in the championship game.

The win was Inspiration’s 26th on the season, besting the previous school record for wins (21).

IA was also 10-0 against area schools on the season, including wins over Out-of-Door Academy, IMG Academy, Bradenton Christian and Palmetto.

“I feel like this season what helped separate us was our brotherhood,” said senior co-captain Josiah Clark.  “We were all about the same goals, the same mindset from day 1.  We knew what we wanted to accomplish and we went out and got to work.”

On the season, Inspiration outscored their opponents 315 – 105.

“We had a tremendous young pitching staff to go along with our veteran hitters,” said head coach Mario Jimenez.  “We did an outstanding job in all facets of our preparation, the boys really felt like they were the most prepared team out there and that type of confidence makes a big difference.”

Junior Jake Platko was named state playoffs MVP due his outstanding contributions at the plate and on the mound.
