Entrepreneurial Leadership Program

Entrepreneurial Leadership Program

CFELogoThe Entrepreneurial Leadership Program (ELP) is a unique elective course that takes students through the task of creating their own business and developing a business plan. Using curriculum from the top business schools, students learn marketing, finance, business ethics and other disciplines needed to succeed as an entrepreneur. Semester 1 is a blend between course work, class presentations and business plan creation. Semester 2, students will have an opportunity to launch their business ideas and face real-world challenges created by the instructors specifically for their business. The interactive nature of the Virtual Business Challenge allows students to explore the struggles of entrepreneurship in a very practical, hands-on way.

ELP 2 is an advanced version of the program which uses the competencies learned in the first year to run actual businesses. Students participate on teams, rotating through different roles within the company and exploring their own strengths and weaknesses. There are two separate tracks within the course, for-profit and non-profit. Mid-year, teams will switch companies and compete on a number of metrics including financial growth, employee satisfaction and specific company goals.
